Broadband Rates & Services
(Effective February 1, 2018)

The following represents basic rate information for Internet Unlimited broadband access accounts and services. 

IUL's Cable and DSL broadband services are available in Alberta and British Columbia, subject to facilities availability. 
 
IUL can install DSL on traditional phone lines provided by most local telephone providers and cable on lines provided by your local cable company.
Dry/bare DSL services are also available for those customers who do not wish to maintain a phone line with their local telephone provider and for whom cable is not an option.

• ** Dry-DSL (sometimes called bare DSL) service is available for most customers in DSL coverage areas who do not wish to maintain a phone line with their telephone company, additional monthly service charges and additional installation charges apply to all Dry-DSL accounts.

Broadband Requirements & Service Terms

• Broadband availability, plans and pricing is subject to change without notice.
• IUL's broadband services are available in Alberta and British Columbia, subject to local facilities availability and restrictions.
• The speed of DSL service is dependant on the physical length of the wire from your home to the telephone company's switching equipment, the quality of that line, and other factors.  The speed of Cable service is dependant on the network load in your immediate vicinity, the quality of the line and other factors, at times of heavy usage your speed may fluctuate.  The speeds quoted above are the maximum users can expect to receive for the plan they have selected.  Because of these limitations not all services or speeds will be available at all locations.
• If you have had equivalent DSL or Cable Internet service from another provider at your current location in the previous 6 months installation or setup charges may vary depending on the provider.
• Multiple IP address scenarios may require special technical consideration and may not be available on all connections.  Additional IP address charges may apply.
• A DSL or or Cable capable modem or router (depending on your service type) is required for connection, these are available for purchase or rental from IUL.
• Additional installation charges may apply if a phone or cable jack is not installed at the desired modem location.  Wiring installations are done on a best-effort basis and installation may not be available or cables may not be completely hidden due to building construction.  IUL is not responsible for damage to building or contents howsoever caused by broadband installation.  If you have specific or special requirements for the installation of your phone or cable jack we recommend that you contact an electrician to have an appropriate jack installed prior to placing your broadband order.
• DSL line filters are required for each phone, fax machine or other phone device that connects to the same phone line as your DSL modem, these are available for purchase from IUL (not required with Dry DSL service).
• DSL service is compatible with most monitored home alarm systems.  However, if you have a home alarm system that connects to the monitoring station using the same phone line as your DSL, you should contact your alarm monitoring company to determine whether any special provisions to your alarm panel are required.  For peace of mind you should also have the alarm company test communication with your alarm panel after your DSL connection is up and running to ensure proper operation.  IUL is not responsible for any charges incurred in testing or modifications that may be required by your alarm company nor for any alarm transmission failures that might occur, for any reason, after the addition of the DSL signal to your phone line.
• Be aware that DSL service does not automatically move with your phone line and likewise cable service does not automatically move with your television service.  If you are moving you must notify us of your new address and move date as soon as you have a move date for your phone or television service booked with your provider so that we can book the move of your broadband service.  We will endeavor to arrange a smooth transition, but since the actual move is done by the telephone or cable company they have the ultimate control of when the move is completed.  There are service charges incurred for all broadband moves. 
• You may upgrade or downgrade the speed of your service at any time, service charges may apply.
• Unlimited data is offered on a fair usage basis.  Usage may be controlled in various manners in the rare circumstance that such usage impedes the quality of service for other system users.
• If you wish to cancel your broadband service, you must notify us in writing no less than 30 days prior to the desired cancellation date, cancellations cannot be accepted by phone.  If rental modems are not returned in serviceable condition complete with all power adaptors within 10 days of service cancellation, user will be charged a fee of up to the full purchase value of the modem or then-current equivalent model.
